#1) As you've so poignantly noted, Tashi, your having to (primarily and very-focusedly) live only by each "hour, day, and week" ............ (i.e., because of poor Wash's condition; and without your thinking, or living, any farther ahead THAN those immediate hours/days/weeks)............ is really hard, I think, for the average person to fully comprehend because, say, in caring for a new, healthy baby, progressive and increasing Baby Independence occurs; and (at the other end of the spectrum), in caring for an elderly relative/friend, there's----(often, but not always!!)----a virtual Lifetime Of Good Memories for caregivers "to hold onto during and afterwards," as you know.
Wash's having the prospect of neither (at only 27, soon-to-be 28)............ is truly The Cruelest Blow, i.e., both to him and to you, too.
#2) It seems that "Taco Tuesday" at your Mum's has been one thing that's just been pretty-darn-concrete/tangible for Wash (and for you) to look FORWARD TO every week. I sure wish I could think of 2-3 "catchy"----(and, on-the-whole, realistically doable!!)----names like that for *e.a.c.h.* day of the week, which you and/or Wash............ (i.e., his daily physical/mental condition permitting)............ could genuinely CHOOSE from, to use as............ "Something To Look Forward To"............ each-and-every day of the week, you know.
"Taco Tuesday" is for both of you; but----(in addition to more "named" days of the week for you and Wash to do things together)----maybe at least 1, or 2, of the days of the week............ could partially, and regularly, be *just* for YOU, Tashi, (i.e., that is, when you have an aide to help/watch Wash). If I were more of a geek, I KNOW I could think of "catchy" weekday names, e.g., like "Taco Tuesday"............ just like *t.h.a.t.*............ (i.e., snapping my fingers, haha)!!
I have a smallish LEGO Star Wars set that my son opened and never built. All the pieces are there, and the instruction manual, although I no longer have the box. We would like to send it to Wash, what is the mailing address? My email is sgoodyear [at] earthlink [dot] com.
I'm a 26 year old former Caregiver. This is my voice to talk about my life- mostly about learning to live now. My husband was diagnosed in November 2009 with Glioblastoma Multiforme- terminal brain cancer. He was only 25 and I had literally just turned 23. He fought hard for almost 3 years before he passed away September 2012, just a month after turning 28.
This was my blog about our life.
This is still my space to find Hope.
This is now my public battle to show what life is like as a 25 year old Widow.
