Ranting

I can think of over 2,000,000 reasons why I dislike/hate (policies) our Insurance Company. The State run, "for the poor people" company.
Cause in our state, even the companies run by the Government are "profit" centered, not focused on giving the BEST healthcare to the Citizens of this state. It has focus on the CHEAPEST care.

AHCCCS does not cover my CAM Boot/cast [DAS BOOT!]. Apparently they only cover casts or walking devices like that if the patient is under 21, or a diabetic. I am neither.

I also now need $209.86 for said Boot. [I spoke with the guy who owns the medical supply place, he's willing to deliver and fit it for free on me in home because of the situation with Wash, but I still have to pay for the boot the insurance won't cover.]
So, I either go without and let my bones get worse and need surgery, or I need an additional $200 from a non-existent income.

THIS IS EVERYTHING THAT IS WRONG WITH PROFIT BASED HEALTHCARE.

  1. I have a cam walker that I used for my right foot for 6 weeks. It would probably be better if you had your own fitted to you but I could send mine if you think it could help.

  2. Tashi-

Those boots are sized based off of shoe size/length of your foot. You probably need a medium. There's nothing wrong with a used one as long as it works, and the med supply guy is a jerk bc you can't charge someone to fit a CAM walker. Orthotic devices are paid for via coding. Can tell you more later.

  5. I have an extra boot I could overnight you. They come in generic sizes - mine is a medium and would probably fit a size 6-10. Let me know the address and I will take it to UPS to send it to you. It is a little beat up as it was well used due to numerous breaks in my feet due to Rhuematoid Arthritis. Would love it if you could use it and save you the money.

  7. Fully agree - for-profit insurance is why the medical situation in this country is so f'd up. They're not subject to anti-trust laws, either. UGH. I have one too - I've used it for both feet - they have air pillows inside that you can pump yourself, so you can fit them yourself. Hopefully, one of your readers' boots will work, because trust me - it's not like they wear out all that much when you've used them. I've used mine 3 times so far (ankle breaker here, *takesbow*)
